About Willow and Woods – Wallpaper Designer
Hand-Drawn Wallpaper and Surface Patterns That Bring Story and Warmth to Your Home
Willow and Woods is my studio, named after the middle names of my children. To me, it’s more than a brand – it’s a way to bring warmth, care, and hand-drawn beauty into homes. Every pattern I create carries a little of my life, my surroundings, and the quiet moments that make a house feel like home.
Walking on the beach, exploring the countryside, or taking a cold dip in the sea often inspires the shapes, colours, and rhythms in my designs. I try to capture those fleeting moments of joy and calm in every pattern, so the spaces you live in feel layered, personal, and welcoming.
My journey to Surface Pattern Design
I began my creative career designing bespoke albums and memory books for clients through my businesses, And Other Memories and Life of Sprout. It was in arranging end pages and patterns that I rediscovered a long-dormant love of drawing and design.
This led me to surface pattern design – a way to combine creativity, craft, and story. The joy of building a pattern reignited a creative spark that had been quiet since my school years, and my surface designs grew from there. Each design begins by hand, with pencil or watercolour, inspired by nature, history, and personal archives. From first sketch to finished wallpaper, printed on demand, the process is deliberate and thoughtful, giving every pattern warmth, depth, and life.
Before focusing on surface pattern design, I spent several years in television production, where I learned the power of story, detail, and atmosphere – skills that continue to quietly inform the way I design today.
A connection to Heritage
Willow & Woods creates hand-painted wallpapers that celebrate the beauty of craftsmanship and the quiet poetry of pattern. Rooted in British artistry and a love of storytelling, each design is painted by hand to bring warmth, character, and meaning to the spaces we call home.
Inspired by generations of creativity within my family and a belief that art should be lived with, not kept behind glass, Willow & Woods brings timeless design to life – one brushstroke at a time.
Stuff you should know about me …
Things I love to draw and paint ...
I love to draw and paint flowers, birds, animals, boats, and abstract shapes. Watercolour is my favourite medium because of the subtle variations in colour and texture that appear in every stroke. Nature, travel, and the everyday moments of life – from walks on the beach to quiet family afternoons – are constant sources of inspiration for my designs.
Each collection begins as a story on paper and becomes a pattern that is made to live in real homes. I want my wallpapers to feel personal, layered, and timeless — something that grows with you and your space.
I Believe in ...
I believe in creating designs that endure – patterns that are beautiful today and will still feel meaningful years from now. Each wallpaper is hand-drawn, then carefully digitised and printed to order in the UK using FSC-certified paper and eco-friendly inks.
Supporting small businesses, sourcing responsibly, and designing with intention are central to Willow & Woods. I aim to create products that bring joy, comfort, and warmth, while respecting people, place, and planet.
Quality products that will last. Supporting small businesses and sourcing my products from within the UK to sell in my shop.
You Can Find Me ...
When I’m not drawing, you’ll find me walking on the beach or countryside with my family, swimming in the sea, or tethered in our pool – rain or shine it’s great to get out there! In a quiet moment you can find me curled up with a good book and getting lost in the world it creates. Although who am I kidding, with three young children, quiet time is rare these days!
These moments feed my creativity and inspire the designs I make, giving every pattern a quiet sense of story and life.
