About Katie, British Wallpaper and Surface Pattern Designer
I’m Katie, founder and surface pattern designer at Willow and Woods. As well as designing wallpaper, I’m also a photo album and memory book creator, living in the little town of Emsworth on the south coast of England. Thanks for visiting, it’s lovely to have you here!
When I’m not working on wallpaper design, I love being Mummy to our three little(ish) ones, our dog and taking long walks on the beach or in the countryside. I also love nothing better than a cold dip in the sea! Brrrrr! On those rare occasions I have a quiet moment, I enjoy settling down with a good book and being transported to another world.
Through my designs I hope to help bring joy and warmth to people’s homes, that glow you feel as sunshine touches the skin, and the comfort of coming inside after a brisk walk in the wind or rain. Discover more about life at Willow and Woods here!
My Approach to timeless Wallpaper Design
Wallpaper design is where creativity meets craftsmanship – transforming everyday walls into beautiful, story-filled spaces. At the heart of my approach is a commitment to timeless, hand-drawn design. Each pattern begins as a pencil sketch or watercolour painting, inspired by nature, history, and the comforting charm of classic interiors.
Once I’m happy with the motifs, they get digitised, so that I can work with them to create the repeating pattern you see on the wallpapers.
Our wallpapers are printed to order here in the UK, using environmentally conscious methods. This means we only produce what’s needed, helping to minimise waste and reduce our environmental impact. We work with trusted print partners who use responsibly sourced FSC-certified paper and eco-friendly inks, so you can feel good about your choices at home.
Unlike mass-produced prints, our designs are made with care and intention from beginning to end. We blend traditional motifs with hand-drawn charm and inviting colour palettes to create wallpapers that feel both nostalgic and fresh. From woodland scenes to delicate florals and coastal toiles, our designs are created to bring joy and depth to any room.
